Every Presidency is riddled with questions of authority. Hence our framers seeing the virtue and necessity for 3 branches of governance that in theory, would serve as balanced scales in the pursuit of the great American experiment.
The most recent question of authority came in light of the Chinese Tariff Conflict. President Trump sent off a new wave of shocks as he Tweeted for businesses to cease all business with China. Immediately, news outlets and foreign countries weighed in on his authority to call for such measures. One French publication went so far as to call the Federal law that allows the President to make decisions regarding our economy and involvement with ‘enemies of the state’ OBSCURE.
This got me thinking. How did we become the society that questions our own framework and biology?
Why is the nation held hostage by an incessant need to question things that were crystal clear to those before us?
We can’t answer these questions without looking in our own mirrors.
Not knowing our authority is costly. Ask any kid raised in a household with wonky rules and milktoast parenting. Ask any Juvenile Judge what it’s costing us in the way of actual state and federal budgets and safety to refuse to operate in our authority as parents, guardians and trustees of our children and future as a nation.
Every manifestation of national chaos and usurping authority begins in the home.
The question becomes how did we abdicate and how do we turn from the road leading to an uncivilized society?
The answers are simple. I’ll share a few. This will be a series since I hear from so many of you who genuinely feel undermined, inept and powerless.
