Sabbatical- Rest- Enter In

As many of you know, I’m answering the call to rest for the month of August. Elul according the Hebrew calendar. A month of reconciling accounts, taking personal inventory. A month of reconnecting to our source.

According to various Judaic sources, it is also a time of divine closeness. In times past, it was also the time of year the King would emerge into the fields allowing for ALL to draw near.

I’m not sure about you, but this past year has left me drained, confused and somewhat demoralized- on the fleshy level. On a spirit level, it’s all par for the course for a world hell bent to overthrow GOD- as IF that were possible.

The nations are writhing, but more importantly, the Kingdoms are writhing. You are dead smack in the middle of a battle of Biblical proportion and Biblical battles, require Biblical tactics. REST is an essential part of warring with success.

As Americans we pride ourselves in working to earn our rest. Fair. The Word says, “you don’t work, you don’t eat”. The government tells you, you don’t work, no problem- we feed you.

An out of order society is a dangerous society. An out of balance society is one that will inevitably become a slave to the idols that have always seduced fallen man. Nothing new under the sun. Whether status, money, fame, stuff, addictions, entertainment, access.. you name it, they call to us like sirens- as if we were abandoned by our Creator. As if, when His Word says to “FIRST, seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, then all these things will be added to you” is a lie.

Rest is righteous. How do I know? Simply, the Word tells us we are commanded to rest as our Creator did on the seventh day. The children of Israel died in the desert for one reason: ” They refused to enter into HIS REST”. No kidding. So, you see, the proper order of our lives is, to seek HIS righteousness, which includes but is not limited to, REST and HE will add all we need.

Many of my friends have asked if I’m worried I will lose followers during my quiet time. My honest answer is this.. if I lose you over being obedient to my calling, you were never with me. And I still love you.

I am not a slave to numbers, follows, likes, opinions. How can I serve you and be enslaved to the news cycle which is filled with lies and grand illusions? How can I minister to you when I refuse to allow God to minister to me, first? I can’t serve two masters. Neither can you.

I leave you this month with a simple reminder to seek the Lord while he may be found. These times are here to destroy you. Your soul: mind, will and emotions. Rest in the way of family, friends, joy, laughter, love, romance, dreams.. peace… it’s all there for you.

We serve the God of HOPE. Without hope you are left with vaccine mandates, masks, wars and rumors of wars, a rogue Congress, a compromised Congress and Senate. You are left to a dying economy and rapidly decreasing supply chain and with sworn foreign enemies, licking their lips in anticipation of our fall. Yet, in the midst of all the chaos, there is a peace that surpasses all understanding. Not as the world gives you.

Stop by throughout the month for any words I feel compelled to share to encourage you. I haven’t left you. On the contrary, I’m lifting you up to our Father while spending time in His much needed presence.
