Monica sits down with Tom Anderson, better known on X as Cynical Publius, a retired U.S. Army colonel and a recently retired corporate law attorney. He served 22 years, including with the 82nd Airborne in Kuwait, Iraq and Afghanistan, and left as an O-6 when the Army wanted him to stay to thirty. Today he writes for The Federalist and Tablet, and speaks plainly to more than 325,000 followers.
Something For Men starts from his conviction that men need a quest: a hard, long-haul task that takes courage and perseverance. War counts, but so do marriage, raising children and going to work when your back hurts. They talk about what that quest looks like after the uniform comes off, and what the military oath still asks of men who never served. They also get into choosing family over the institution, and why honor comes from what a man does, not his bloodline. It's a conversation with a man who has been shot at, signed papers and stayed married, and who still thinks the job is unfinished.
